"My name is Shinseki, and I am a Soldier" - - an American
Soldier, who was born in the midst of World War II, began his service in Vietnam 37 years ago, and retires today in the midst
of war in Afghanistan and Iraq. The strategic environment remains dangerous, and we, in the military, serve our Nation by
providing the very best capabilities to restore order in a troubled world. Soldiering is an honorable profession, and I am
privileged to have served every day for the past 38 years as a Soldier. Erick C. Shinseki ex-chief of staff. By Robert Hallarmon
The Army that went to Vietnam in the 1960's
was an Army whose generals believed, in an almost mystical way, that they could use the swift, smashing fist of Armor and
sheer numbers to overwhelm those poorly trained and equipped "little people". The 'grunt', the 'nurse', the 'door gunner',
the 'teamster', the 'Ranger'; those of the millions of 'every-day folks' who went to war, and the fifty-six thousand who'll
never come back, can be proud that they did what they did; for you.

fires actually create their own weather systems. The smoke creates clouds, the hot fire creates air movement and this creates
friction and static electricity. It is common for a large forest fire to create a dry lightning storm. When this happens the
dry lightning storm can cause new fires. This is one major and well known risk of forest fires. Rain happens when the air
can’t hold the water vapor any more. This happens when a cold mass of air hits a wet hot mass of air. Hot air can hold
more water vapor than cold air. When warm air hits cold air, it cools and so it can’t hold all the water vapor it has
therefore it rains. This is why showers are most common along cold weather fronts.

I am the American Soldier
I'm lean and hard and tan.
My shoulders back, my head held high...
At last, I am a man.
The call to arms rings in my ears
And willingly I go,
Far from home and family
To challenge any foe.
With youthful, careless vigor
I march through hell's terrain,
My strong and sinew'd body,
Pressing onward - onward through the rain.
I jump from planes and dive the seas
I climb the mountain high.
I crawl the desert floors by night,
My bed is where I lie.
I am the American Soldier,
Courageous, strong and true
Prepared to lay my life down for...
The red, the white, the blue.
I am the American Soldier.
Service is my life;
Before all other earthly things,
My babies, home and wife.
I am the seasoned soldier.
I've done it all it seems.
I've seen the view from mountain tops,
And wept o'er broken dreams.
My body aches from many miles,
I've crawled and walked and run;
I've lived among the trees and bush,
And baked in the desert sun.
I've said "Yes Sir!" to lesser men
And pushed anger to one side;
And in keeping my own counsel,
I've then, preserved my pride.
I am the American Soldier,
Serving every day;
In combat or in blissful peace,
My experience leads the way.
I am the aging soldier.
Once tall and proud I stood;
Upon the field of valor,
My flag, my weathered hood.
I answered the call to duty,
Heard my country's periled cry.
And took up arms with brothers,
To bleed and fall and die.
I am the aging soldier,
No longer in my prime.
Stricken by too many missions -
And the ravages of time.
I've served this old world over
With honor as my shield.
My word, my bond and armor,
The sword of liberty I wield.
I am the American Soldier.
In misty twilight here I stand;
A testament to courage...
That paid the price for this great land.

Take it easy, take it easy Don't let the sound of your own wheels Drive you crazy Lighten up while you still can Don't even
try to understand Just find a place to make your stand And take it easy Well I'm standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona
And such a fine sight to see It's a girl, my lord, in a flatbed Ford Slowing down to take a look at me Come on baby, don't
say maybe I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me We may lose, and we may win Though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbing in So take it easy Well I'm a-running down the road Trying to loosen my load Got a world of trouble
on my mind Looking for a lover who won't blow my cover She's so hard to find Take it easy, take it easy Don't let the sound
of your own wheels make you crazy Come on baby, don't say maybe I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me Oh we got
it easy, we oughta take it easy

Go Army!
6 Habits of Enlightened Souls
Author Unknown
1. BE QUIET. At least once a day, sit down.
There is a source within each one of us called the
spirit or soul. It is a crime to disturb the inner
peace. This peace is our power to create
positive things in our life.
Try speaking softly and slowly than your usual way.
Speaking this way is more powerful because it attracts
the peace in others. Just be aware of your words.
Savor their energy and rhythm.
2. LET GO. Don't hold on to anything with your hand or
with your mind.
Many think that doing this means losing. If you don't
release the old, you can't get anything new. This
requires detachment. Letting go means moderating
excessive attachment to material possessions, to
emotions, or to the status quo or comfort zones in our
lives.
3. LET IT BE. We are great fixers of other people's
lives.
We're trying to write somebody else's script. We are
absent from our own lives because we're busy living
the life of others. Acceptance and contentment are the
first steps to healthy relationships. An example is
our appreciation of the moon, which is beyond change.
We never dream of wanting to change or influence it,
nor have we the slightest remorse that the same face
of the moon is always turned toward us: We have no
need to see the dark side. Extend this deep feeling of
acceptance to the people we meet.
4. LISTEN IN. Use your intuition, the inner tutor and
the voice of wisdom.
Because we have held on to our false beliefs for so
long, we ignore and distrust our inner voice and tell
it to shut up. The process of enlightenment is the
process of learning to trust that inner voice once
again.
Example is the conscience as intuition at work. When
we misbehave, the voice of conscience alerts us to our
mistake. We may shun that voice, engaging in reason as
the ally of ego to justify our deeds. Yet the
troubling intuitive disapproval of conscience will go
on to make its rebukes. We can either suppress the
advice or repair the wrong.
5. WAKE UP. Habits are programmed by our external
conditioning.
Write your own habits then decide which ones to strike
out and replace them with virtues. Visualize the
virtue you want to create and empower that image. For
example, if you want to develop patience, visualize
yourself as a patient person. Watch, feel and manifest
patience in every action you do until it becomes your
behavior. Waking up is to consciously choose your
behavior and thereby create the personality
(character) you want. Never believe anyone who says,
"You can never change."
6. KNOW YOURSELF. Look behind the "I want" attitude,
those desires that make us need things that are not
necessary.
The truth is, happiness is a choice, not a chore; a
decision to bring out from the self. Affirm that you
are happiness, a source of happiness.
If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything
/Mark Twain/

This is an ancient sun symbol of a Native American people called the Zia.
The
Zia believed that the giver of all good gave them gifts in groups of four.
These
gifts are:
The
four directions - north, east, south and west.
The
four seasons - spring, summer, fall and winter.
The
day - sunrise, noon, evening and night.
Life
itself - childhood, youth, middle years and old age.
All of these are bound by a circle of life and love, without
a beginning or end...
Author: Veronica A. Shoffstall
After a while you learn the subtle difference
between holding a hand and chaining a soul and
you
learn love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't always mean security.
And
you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't always promises and you begin to accept your defeats with
your head up and your
eyes
ahead with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is
too uncertain for plans and futures have a way
of falling down in mid-flight.
After
a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much
So you plant your own garden and decorate your
own soul
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers
And you learn that you really can endure, that
you really are strong
and you really do have worth and you learn and
you learn
with every good-bye you learn.

This is the land where
the deer and antelope play - as well as the coyote, the mountain lion, the elk, the eagle.
A land where the heavens
ignite into magnificent sunsets - where a galaxy of stars sparkle brightly through the pure vibrant air. A land that beckons
to one's Soul - to come explore and to be free - as have the ancient Anasazi, the Apache, the Navajo, the Pioneers and the
Cowboys of the Old West.
Come Be part of this place. Hear

Behold the beauty around
you - and within you. Let your footsteps beat a rhythm upon this silent and sacred land.

THE ERA
The Vietnam
was a war that should never have
been it was a war they called an error the error
of it was the price so many had to pay and for
so many they still pay to this day.
What of the millions of lives that were taken away
that is one mistake that we can never repay. What
of the soldiers that made it through the Era what of
the battle they fight each and everyday the one inside
that never goes away.
Nam was an error in every way but it cost more then
we can ever repay, time does not replace the lives that
were taken away, time does not atop the battle for the
one's that made it back this way.
Why can't there be peace and love on this world today
before another error takes what's left away, but maybe
someday there'll be peace in everyway

I won't be home for
Christmas... .
I am among the thousands of Americans who served in uniform in
Iraq
and Afghanistan who are now gone.
Many who survived their wounds will never be whole. Many will have life expectancies far shorter than others their age who
never served in uniform... never seeing the same number of Christmases to come.
I am among the millions of Americans
who served in uniform during WW2 who are now gone... and it is estimated that less than eleven percent of the men and
women who served during WW2 are alive today, with more than a thousand passing away each day.
I am among the tens
of thousands of Americans who served in uniform in Korea who are now gone... and it is estimated that less than four percent
of the men and women who served in Korea are alive today, with more than seven hundred passing away each day.
I
am among the hundreds of thousands of Americans who served in uniform in Vietnam who are
now gone... and it is estimated that less than one-third of the men and women who served in Vietnam
are alive today, with more than a two hundred passing away each day.
I and those with me won't be home for Christmas.
Please always remember us... and those who will join us before next Christmas...

It's not just about the etymology of a word (colored & oriental). It's also about a movement
that needs to be remembered for the sake of progress. About a time when a group of people stood up and exercised their right
to redefine themselves in hopes for a better future. About the importance of knowing history and seeing how certain things,
which many people consider old or irrelevant, affect us today. About the need to question and criticize others AND ourselves
about the ideals and values that we sometimes carelessly overlook, About progress.
The world is
full of abundance and opportunity, but far too many people come to the fountain of life with a sieve instead of a tank car
... a teaspoon instead of a steam shovel. They expect little and as a result they get little. - Ben

"The person who is a master in the art of living makes
little difference between their work and their play, their labor and their leisure, their mind and their body, their
education and their recreation, their love and their religion. They hardly know which is which.
They simply pursue
their vision of excellence and grace in whatever they do and leave others to decide whether they are working or playing. To
them they are always doing both."

Simple Friends vs. Real Friends
A simple friend can stand by you when
you are right. A real friend will stand by you even when are wrong
A simple friend identifies himself when he
calls. A real friend doesn't have to.
A simple friend opens a conversation with a full news bulletin on his life.
A real friend says, "What's new with you?"
A simple friend thinks the problems you whine about are recent. A
real friend says, "You've been whining about the same thing for 14 years. Get off your duff and do something about it."
A
simple friend has never seen you cry. A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.
A simple friend doesn't
know your parents' first names. A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.
A simple friend brings
a bottle of wine to your party A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.
A
simple friend hates it when you call after she has gone to bed. A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.
A
simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems. A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.
A
simple friend wonders about your romantic history. A real friend could blackmail you with it.
A simple friend,
when visiting, acts like a guest. A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps herself.
A simple friend thinks
the friendship is over when you have an argument. A real friend knows that it's not a friendship until after you've had
a fight.
A simple friend expects you to always be there for them. A real friend expects to always be there for
you.

Current Omitted,
Let go Let go of that nagging feeling that something could go wrong. For
whatever may happen, you can always choose a way to move forward.
Let go of your resentment and anger over things that are beyond your control. Do
the very best with where you are, with what you have, and that will be more than enough.
Let go of the pain you
carry from things that happened long ago. Allow yourself to experience the
glorious freedom of forgiveness.
Let go of the needs that you don't really need, that keep your life so anxious
and complicated. Find real fulfillment not in getting, but in being.
Let
go of the regrets, the disappointments and distress. Choose to follow the
very best of the possibilities that beckon you forward.
Let go of all the excuses you have for not living fully. Give beauty and meaning to the life and the world that you're in right now. --
Ralph Marston
There will be a day - Jeremy Camp
I try to hold on to this world with everything I have But I feel the weight of what it brings, and the hurt that tries
to grab The many trials that seem to never end, His word declares this truth, that we will enter in this rest with
wonders anew
But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings That there will be a place with no more
suffering
(Chorus) There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears There will be a
day when the burdens of this place, will be no more, we'll see Jesus face to face But until that day, we'll hold on to
you always
I know the journey seems so long You feel you’re walking on your own But there has never
been a step Where you’ve walked out all alone
(Chorus)
Troubled soul don’t lose your heart
Cause joy and peace he brings And the beauty that’s in store Outweighs the hurt of life’s sting
I
can’t wait until that day where the very one I’ve lived for always will wipe away the sorrow that I’ve faced
To touch the scars that rescued me from a life of shame and misery this is why this is why I sing
The Fern and the Bamboo One day I decided to quit...I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality....
I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. "God", I said. "Can you give me one good
reason not to quit?" His answer surprised me. "Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?" "Yes",
I replied. "When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them
water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo
seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo." "In the second year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing
came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo." "In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed.
But I would not quit. The same in year four." "Then in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared
to the fern, it was seemingly small and insignificant." "But just six months later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet
tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I
would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle." "Did you know, my child, that all this time you
have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you." "Don't
compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest
beautiful." "Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high" "How high should I rise?" I asked. "How high
will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return. "As high as it can?" I questioned "Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising
as high as you can." I left the forest, realizing that God will never give up on me. And He will never give up on you. Never
regret a day in your life. Good days give you happiness; bad days give you experiences; both are essential to life.

"BURY ME WITH
SOLDIERS" (Author Rev. Charles Fink)
I've
played a lot of roles in life, I've met a lot of men. I've done some things I'd like to think, I wouldn't do again. And
though I'm young, I'm old enough, To know someday I'll die, And think about what lies beyond, Beside whom I would
lie.
Perhaps it doesn't matter much, Still, if I had my choice, I'd want a grave amongst soldiers when, At
last death quells my voice, I'm sick of the hypocrisy, Of lectures by the wise, I'll take the man, with all his flaws, Who
goes, though scared, and dies.
The troops I know are commonplace, They didn't want the war, They fought because
their fathers and Their fathers had before. They cursed and killed and wept- God knows, they're easy to deride, But
bury me with men like these, They faced the guns and died.
It's funny, when you think about it, The way we got
along, We'd come from different worlds, To live in one no one belongs, I didn't even like them all, I'm sure they'd
all agree, Yet, I would give my life for them, I hope some did for me.
So bury me with soldiers, please, Though
much maligned they be, Yes, bury me with soldiers, for I miss their company. We'll not soon see their like again, We've
had our fill of war. But bury me with men like them, Till someone else does more.
